The Bansko ski season normally runs from mid-December to mid-April, and at Ski Mania we take rental and lesson bookings for 2026/27 from 12 December 2026 to 11 April 2027. As of September 2026 the resort operator has not yet published the official 2026/27 opening date or lift pass prices — the announcement usually comes around mid-December — so this guide uses the 2025/26 season as a reference and will be updated as soon as the new figures are out.
We have been renting gear and teaching skiing in Bansko since 2000, right next to the gondola base station on Pirin Street. Here is what we get asked every autumn: when the lifts open, what a pass costs, which month suits you, and how to beat the morning queue.
Official 2026/27 dates: not yet published. The resort operator, Ulen, publishes dates and prices on banskoski.com, and based on previous years we expect the announcement around mid-December 2026. Check there before you book flights around a specific opening day.
What we can tell you now:
The ski area itself: around 75 km of marked pistes between 990 m and 2,600 m, snowmaking on most of them, night skiing on some evenings, and a roughly 16 km Ski Road back to town. Beginner areas are at Banderishka Polyana (top of the gondola) and Chalin Valog. More on our About Bansko page.
The table shows the 2025/26 lift pass prices (EUR, including VAT, valid from 27 December 2025) — a reference for your 2026/27 budget until the new list appears on banskoski.com, most likely in mid-December.

A few more things worth knowing:
There is no single "best" week in Bansko; it depends on whether you want quiet slopes, festive atmosphere or spring sun.
Our season starts on 12 December, and the resort has typically moved to full lift operation by mid/late December; snowmaking on most pistes keeps the main runs in shape early on. Christmas and New Year are lively — the old town's mehanas are full and hotels book up — and our high-season school pricing starts on 23 December. Book rental and lessons well in advance for these two weeks.
Once the holidays end, Bansko calms down noticeably. January is the coldest month, and at 2,000–2,600 m you will want a warm jacket — we rent jacket and trousers sets. In return you get emptier pistes, shorter lift waits and the best availability for private and one-to-one lessons — a great month to learn.
February is the busiest month, with winter school holidays across Europe bringing families to Bansko. Expect the longest gondola queues of the season, full group classes (we cap them at 8) and hotel prices at their highest. The upside: it is the heart of winter and the town is at its best. Many of us at Ski Mania consider March the sweet spot: longer days, more sun, firm mornings and pleasantly soft afternoons. Crowds thin as the month goes on, and from 21 March our school prices drop back to low-season rates. Sunglasses and sun cream become as important as gloves.
Our booking season closes on 11 April 2027; the 2025/26 resort season ran to 12 April. Skiing concentrates on the higher pistes, mornings are best, and the town has a relaxed end-of-season feel — good value for a short trip if you are flexible about conditions.
The gondola from town to Banderishka Polyana runs 08:30–17:00; the lifts on the mountain run 08:45–16:15, with last rides around 16:00–16:15. The 8-seat cabins take roughly 25–30 minutes to the top.
On busy mornings — Christmas week, February — a queue forms at the base station on Pirin Street. Here is how we avoid wasting the morning:
Ski Mania is a licensed member of the Bulgarian Ski School with more than 500 complete ski and snowboard sets in stock. Our two shops — Pirin Str. 92A by the gondola and Pirin Str. 113 — are open 08:00–18:00 daily in season.
Adult prices per set for 1 / 6 days (2026/27):
Children's ski set with boots and poles from €13 per day (€64 for 6 days), and children's helmets are free. We also have snowshoes, ski-touring and cross-country sets — full price list on our equipment rental page.
Group lessons (max 8 people) from about €42 per person for 2 hours in low season and about €47 in high season; 4-hour group days from about €78. One-to-one lessons from about €89 for 2 hours, private lessons for up to 2 people from about €118. The 2026/27 list is not out yet. In 2025/26 an adult 1-day pass cost €59, a 6-day pass €341 and a half-day pass €46; children aged 7–11.99 paid €30 for a day and €164 for 6 days.

Children under 7 pay a symbolic €0.60 per day (2025/26); children aged 7–11.99 pay the child rate, €30 for 1 day. Seniors aged 75+ also pay €0.60 per day.
Yes — we recommend it. Come to our shop at Pirin Str. 92A after about 15:30 the day before your first ski day, get fitted, and store the gear with us overnight for free.
